Moguls champion Donna Weinbrecht has won almost everything in Freestyle. The Jersey Girl with the signature blonde ponytail won the Olympic gold medal in 1992 and was the 1st woman to ever win a medal in the moguls. It goes with her five World Cup titles; 46 World Cup victories; and the silver medal from her first World Championships (1989) the silver medal at the 1997 World Freestyle Championships on the ’98 Olympic course in Nagano, Japan, where she placed 4th in her last Olympic competition.
Donna learned to do the bumps at Killington while waiting tables at the Pasta Pot. Her 1st freestyle victory was at the Bear Mt. Mogul Competition (the dishwasher at the Pasta Pot, Frank Cassano came in 1st for the men). She made the 1988 US Ski Team and as freestyle Rookie of the Year, missed the 1989 World Cup crown by only one point. She has dominated women’s moguls throughout the Nineties and will keep you up-to-date on where she will be appearing and what she will be doing here at the Ski Bum News.
Donna enjoys sailing (Team Weinbrecht has a 40-foot boat on the Jersey Shore), river rafting in Colorado, windsurfing, surfing, boats and other activities.
Her favorite books are: Medicine Woman, 44 Sisters, Jaguar Woman, Flight of the Seven Loons, The Vampire Chronicles and books on philosophy, including Surfing the Himalayas or The Celestine Prophecy and others.
She prefers up-tempo music for training, Sinatra (she’s was also born in Hoboken), and rock.
Donna’s nickname is “Big D”
